MEDIA RELEASE

The Jamaican Association of Australia Incorporated, the official association of Jamaicans living in Australia has officially launched with its website going public.  The foundation of the Jamaica Association has been built to fulfil the main purposes of:

(a) Supporting and promoting Jamaican culture within the Australia community;

(b) Positively representing Jamaica’s interest in Australia and its surrounding regions; and

(c) Fostering unity while creating harmonious relationships between our members and the community we live in.

With Australia’s recent commitment to strengthen its business and bilateral relations with Jamaica, the growing popularity and interest in Jamaican culture in Australasia and the growing number of Jamaican students choosing to study in Australian universities; the launch of the association is timely. Any person aged 18 years and older can become a member of this Association. Application for membership can be made online or by printing the application form and sending it by mail or email.

The association launched its website recently and encourages members of the Jamaican diaspora and all persons interested in finding information pertaining to the Jamaica-Australia Community and much more, to visit the website for further details.  The website is the first of its kind in Australia and provides useful information such as Jamaican passport renewal procedures from Australia; how to find Jamaican businesses in Australia; how to find Jamaican produce and products in Australia, how to become a member; as well as important news and updates from across the diaspora. The website also has a query form through which to contact the Executive directly.
